GM Update: November 2022

We welcomed many guests through our doors this month.

Asuelu Pulaa stayed with us recently. It was good to catch up with a past employee of the resort who has gone on to make something of himself in the international arena.

I was privileged to travel to American Samoa as part of a Samoan tourism roadshow. We share a close history, and it is always a pleasure to visit Pago and promote Samoa and Taumeasina Island Resort.

We were visited by students from the University of Newcastle in Australia, who are studying mangrove ecosystems in our local village of Moata'a. They were given plenty of opportunity to experience Samoan culture and we expect to see many of them return. At the same time, as part of a pilot initiative with Newcastle University, Taumeasina Island Resort hosted 3 exchange students who are studying Tourism at the University of Newcastle, they all individually experienced different facets of working in an island resort in Samoa.

Perhaps the biggest moment this month was Toa Samoa's getting into the finals of the Rugby World Cup.  Samoa didn’t take the cup, but we won the hearts of the world.   It was a late night for many of us here at Taumeasina Island Resort and things got a little crazy at full time. See below our video wishing them the best of luck heading into the match against Australia, where they gave a good account of themselves.

Taumeasina Cove Villas Opening December 1st

The long awaited announcement of our Stage 2 Villas along Taumeasina Cove is finally here. We have completed the finishing touches on these outstanding 3 bedroom villas and they will be open for bookings on December 1st.

University of Newcastle visits Moata'a

Our local village of Moata'a welcomed students from the University of Newcastle (Australia) this week as part of their research into mangrove ecosystems. We were pleased to host these students at Taumeasina as they conducted their studies, before they shifted into shared houses in the village for the last three days of their stay.

Taumeasina hosts Air New Zealand Board Meeting

This week we had the pleasure of hosting the Air New Zealand board of directors for a board meeting.

As one of our key partners, it was a pleasure to host them at Taumeasina Island Resort and enjoy a cocktail event at our Vasa venue.
